Music Program

The Music Program at Saint Saviour High School offers students a comprehensive exploration of musical theory, performance, and production. Through engaging coursework and dynamic ensemble opportunities, students develop technical skills, creative expression, and a deep appreciation for music.

 Our program nurtures students' creativity and technical proficiency while fostering a love for music. From foundational courses to advanced electives, students have opportunities to grow as musicians, performers, and creators. Through concerts, recitals, and recording projects, Saint Saviour students gain confidence and experience that will inspire them throughout their lives.

Music Sequence

Freshman Year:  Fundamentals of Music: This course introduces the language of music, including music theory, notation, rhythm, and ear training, while exploring orchestral instruments and famous composers.

Sophomore Year: Keyboard Studies: This course focuses on building instrumental skills through keyboard practice, strengthening technique, rhythm, and coordination.

Elective Offerings:
Instrumental Ensemble: Students refine their skills on specific instruments through small group and ensemble practice, culminating in an end-of-year concert. Prior experience and instrument ownership are recommended.

Chorus: Here, students have the chance to explore vocal techniques, harmonization, and diverse musical genres, preparing for two annual concert performances.

Advanced Music: This course deepens music theory knowledge and builds keyboard technique with a focus on classical and popular repertoire, concluding with a recital performance.

Audio Production: Students create and record music using Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software, developing a repertoire of performed pieces and submitting a final digital compilation.

Advanced Placement Music Theory: This college-level course develops an advanced understanding of music theory through the analysis of performed and notated music, preparing students for the AP Exam.
